I just finished Transfer of Power by Vince Flynn. Awesome, awesome book. Warning, don't start reading it if you are pressed for time, you won't want to stop.
The protagonist, Mitch Rapp, pursues leads to a terrorist he's been tracking for the past ten years. His search takes him from the slums of third world countries to the upper echelons of power. His target is incredibly, intelligent, disciplined, and determined and about to launch a dangerous and masterful plan.
Thomas Stansfield, Irene Kennedy, Commander Harris, Miltch Adams, so many great characters. Tense, intelligent tactical action involving the elite special forces, Delta Force, Seal Team Six, and the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team.
In one of my favourite scenes, Miltch Adams, retired soldier, veteran of Iwo Jima, gets asked by Rapp why Adams is volunteering again. Adams gives the simple of answer that it's the right thing to do. Rapp, driven by completely different motivations, marvels at how much the character of each generation has changed.
