Working Knowledge - Mounted Partition Permissions

I was trying to checkout some files from a repository that was on a NTFS partition on a portable hard disk but CVS could not read from and write to this partition.

I tried the following but it did not work:

• sudo chown -R yourusername /media/yourdiskname

I then used GParted to create a ext3 format partition. I then used chown and this time CVS could read from and write to the new partition.
