November 2010 Blog Statistics

I've been looking at the statistics for this blog over the past few weeks and I've been noticing the types of things that bring people here. There are two types of posts that are popular.

The first are the "How to Do Something" type posts where I write about how to do things that take me a while to figure out. The second are the "How to Fix Some Error" type posts where I write about programming and other errors that also take me a while to figure out.

I've also noticed that people find the "How to Fix Some Error" posts based on the error message. Obviously. However, I hadn't really thought about it that way before. I also usually leave out the error messages I discover in the "How to Do Something" posts to make things simpler. When I read about how to do something, I want a short list of clear steps. However, in future I'll include the errors that I encountered in a section following the steps that are optional reading.

I've been blogging since 2007 and one of the reasons I write is so that I can remember what I've learnt and hopefully help other people. However, it's also been fun seeing the number of visitors increase. Since 2007, I've had 4,559 total visitors and 1,275 of them have been from the past 30 days.
